I really wish I had a dirt bike or 4wheeler right now. It snowed like crazy last night, and since the Blazer is still in the shop we didn’t have anything to play in the snow. We’ve got my dad’s 4×4 Tracker, and it makes an awesome snow toy, but he’d kill us if we wrecked it, so it’s staying put in the driveway.

This is what I’d really like to be doing right now.

This morning I’m totally missing the fact that I can’t head over to Killboy.com to check out this week’s photo highlights. That’s normally one way I cure my boredom checking out which of my friend’s made the front page, but I can’t do that right now. With it being the off season for Deal’s Gap there aren’t a lot of photographers that want to stand in the cold on the side of the road snapping photos of a bike here and there.

What do I do when I can’t check out the photos? Now I don’t go looking at girlie things like diamond pendants. Instead I watch Killboy’s Pocketbikes At Deal’s Gap video. It will always be one of my personal faves!

We got to enjoy a couple more hours of riding today, but I remember why riding this time of the year sucks.  It doesn’t have anything to do with how cold it is because we have cold weather gear.  The problem is the daylight.

By the time hubby gets home from work it’s already 5:30.  That means the sun is already setting right about the time he gets home.  We have maybe 45 minutes of riding before it’s dark, and for some reason I just hate riding in the dark this time of the year.  I know what it is. When it’s dark I can’t take pics, I can’t make decent videos, and there are a hell of a lot more deer running around to watch out for.  Winter seriously sucks.

There are times in our life when our bikes might break, and we just don’t have the cash we need to fix them. Then there are times when you might need a new piece of safety gear to ride safely, but you just don’t have the cash to pick it up. Yesterday’s ride was so nice.  I didn’t end up getting a chance to take any pictures or video because it was so nice I didn’t want to get off the bike.  We didn’t end up riding up the mountain anyway.  My father in law wanted to cruise along on his V-Star, so we just rode around the lakes and enjoyed the day.  It’s supposed to be 69 today and 71 tomorrow (yes in  January after the high barely reached 32 last week), so we’ll be riding a lot this week.

We really need a new tire, so I’m happy it’s got at least enough meat left on it for a couple more rides. It looks like I’ll be ordering either another set of Pirellis or Pilot Powers as they’re giving us the best results.  I would love to be running 2CT’s, but they just don’t make them to fit the YZF 600r.  We can’t run a 180…booo…at least not safely without changing the sidewall of the tire.

There is an alternative that I’m going to discuss with hubby.  It involves changing over to the FZR rear rim.  We might just have to consider that.
