WTF Was She Thinking?

Sometimes I see people doing stupid things, and I just want to ask them wtf is wrong with them. We rode over to a friend’s house tonight to visit for awhile. On our way there we stopped at a gas station near his house.

There was a group of most definite squids hanging out in the parking lot all with chicks sitting on the back of their bikes. How do I know they were squids? Well asides from the mucho obvious chick strips, none of them were wearing riding gear. They were all wearing jackets, but none of them were wearing actual riding jackets, and one chick was wearing freakin’ swimwear! She had a bikini top on with jeans and an unzipped jacket. It’s only freakin’ frigged out there tonight, and this was about 9pm. Yeah, it’s not as cold as it has been the last few nights, but it’s 44 degrees out right now! I know wtf she was thinking.

Very Long Weekend

This sure has been some year, and I’m glad it’s almost over. I hope next year brings a few brighter days. It seems like every time we want to go to some bike event, no matter how big or small, something always comes up.

We had planned to ride up for the End Of Season Bash at Deal’s Gap this past weekend, but our plans were changed immediately the minute we heard Hubby’s best friend’s dad passed away. We spent Friday night at the funeral home and Saturday night at the funeral/with the family. A friend asked if we wanted to ride up after the funeral Saturday, but that seemed a little disrespectful to us…the leaving, not the friend asking. We ended up staying with the family until last that night, making sure they all had anything they needed, etc. That family is like a second family to both Hubby and I, and TP, you will definitely be missed.

Now Hubby’s best friend is taking over the family business immediately, and I know I’ll have a lot of stuff to do for him. For instance his dad kept all records on paper and didn’t even know how to turn on a computer. Our friend will be changing that up, bringing the business into the 21st century. The business might be upgrading, but it definitely won’t be losing the TP feel. Even though the desk in the office is totally beat up, our friend refused to buy new office furniture because that was his dad’s old desk. He’s going to have a lot to adjust to losing his dad so suddenly, and there will be a lot of stuff he tries to hold onto. We know we’ve all just gotta take it one day at a time, and we’re here for anything he needs.

A Nice Trade

It looks like Hubby’s actually going to get his double bubble windscreen. I told him if he could wait I’d order it after Christmas. Right now I just wanted to get all the necessary parts to have the bike on the road, and the other stuff could come later when I put the bike in the shop for paint. Well it looks like he’s going to get his windscreen and a few extra parts anyway.

I’ve got a friend who has an ‘02 600r sitting in his garage. He hasn’t ridden it since he bought his 06 R1, but he bought a bunch of stuff for it right before he got the R1. He’s got the double bubble that he never installed as well as an extra front fender and all the 600r decals I need. His pc went down this weekend, so he called me to see if I could fix it. He can’t afford to pay anyone to fix it right now, but he offered to trade the parts out if I could get it up and running.

No big deal. He dropped it off this morning, and it’s such a simple fix. One of his ram sticks went kaput, and that was keeping the pc from posting. Luckily I didn’t have to go buying a type of computer memory that I didn’t already have on hand. He’s got an older Dell Dimension 2350 that takes all these SDRAM sticks I have laying around that I can’t use anymore, so I loaded him up with 2GB and 2 extra 512mb sticks to take home with him. Seems like a pretty fair trade to me! I would have loved to put all 3GB in his pc, but his motherboard won’t support it.

Too Cold

We were planning on taking a ride with the in-laws today, but I’m fully admitting I’m being a total wuss. It’s freakin’ cold today! Yeah yeah, I’ve got the cold weather gear. I’m bundled up, and I’ve got Hubby sitting in front of me to block most of the wind, but I still chickened out. We normally ride all winter long, but I guess I just wasn’t ready for it this year. We’ve had all these record high days, and now suddenly the October weather has finally arrived. The warm days have me spoiled!

So, we 86′d the ride and did some much needed shopping. The only thing I didn’t pick up is an external hard drive, but the prices of the ones I spotted were just way too steep. I can get something bigger and cheaper online, so that’s exactly what I’m going to do.

Now I’m off to make some hot chocolate and warm myself up. It’s freezing in this house!

Quick Update

Ok, so it’s been long over due, and there have been tons of hiccups, but I can finally stop in to give a short update on the bike.  Yay!  The finishing touches are being done on the tail section welding as we speak, reinforcing the aluminum tubing we’re using to strengthen the section where the bolts go.  All that’s left to do is put the plastics back on, hook up the tail light, install the rear pegs, put the seats on, and we’re ready to go!  Of course it’ll be in full rat bike mode for awhile.  I’m not having the bike painted until I get a new tank.  We’re rocking the beat up JB Welded one for now, and I’ll get a new tank and have everything painted during the winter.  All I have to say is YAY!  It’s about damn time!
