It figures. The bike is back together, and I’m ready to ride. My body apparently doesn’t agree with me because I’ve been laid up since Saturday night with the flu. I’ve made camp on the couch with a bottle of Sprite, a couple blankets, my sister’s laptop, the remote, and the dog to keep me company. I mostly sleep, but there are those times when you wake up bored and just have to find something to do…anything at all. I’d be going absolutely stir crazy if I didn’t have the laptop right now because my body aches too bad for me to sit in my desk chair for more than a few minutes.
I’m having the same issue with our bed. I don’t want to be snuggling up to Hubby spreading my germs to him anyway, but I really can’t sleep in our bed right now. Our metal bed frames are sagging in the middle, and it’s making it really uncomfortable to sleep there when my body is already aching like crazy. I slept there 2 hours Saturday night before I woke up with my back hurting so bad I wanted to cry. You better believe as soon as I’m over this nasty stuff I’m going straight to the store to buy the replacement frame things.
The ones we have now have done well considering they spent a good 20 years supporting us kids as we jumped up and down on the bed. The last 5 years have been spent underneath Hubby, and even he admits his 270lbs have taken a toll on the already worn out frames. Yep, I’d say it’s time for new ones before we kill our backs or the bed collapses beneath us.

I’m happy to say the last of the bike parts are beginning to arrive. The rear foot pegs showed up today, and I wasn’t even expecting them to show up seeing as how I haven’t even received a USPS shipping notification for them yet. I’m waiting on the new bolts that go with them to come in, but they won’t be in until Monday.
I snapped a quick cell phone pic of Bubba checking out the new goods.

I’m so happy this is all finally coming together. Now as soon as we get through tax season it’ll be time to start looking at the performance parts we want to buy for the bike as well as the truck. As soon as the bike is back on the road Hubby can stop driving the Blazer to work everyday which will not only cut down on the massive mileage he’s racking up on the truck, but it’ll also give us the chance to do some much needed maintenance.

Where did all this gorgeous weather come from? Here we’ve been freezing all month with below normal temps and all of a sudden we’re in the 70s! No, I’m definitely NOT complaining about it, but I was totally jealous all weekend when I saw someone out enjoying their bike every time I turned around.
I didn’t get to do any riding though. We spent all day Saturday helping our friends move into their new house, and yesterday we spent the day working on the bike. We had to spend some time rerouting wires and things to make everything work with the new custom tail section. I came up with a way to use the old seat lock, and it works great. We just rerouted it and made our own metal tabs.
We’re just waiting on the rear pegs to come in (which I ordered yesterday), and then the bike is going off to paint. I talked to our friend who’s painting it yesterday, and we should be sending it to him within the next couple of weeks, but it should be ready to ride as soon as this weekend if all goes well! It’ll just look like a total rat bike for now, and that I don’t mind at all :-p.
Hubby is only working half a day Friday because he has a meeting with a guy who’s wanting to hire him for some work on commercial real estate. If he gets home early enough and the weather is still nice I might convince him to take the bike out for it’s “welcome back” voyage. I so totally can’t wait!

Sometimes I’d like to slap some sense into Hubby. I asked him to make a list of stuff he wants for Valentine’s Day & his birthday. He normally gets 1 big present because his birthday is 2 days after Valentine’s Day. My only request is that he doesn’t ask for anything bike related because he gets those things for every other Holiday or occassion year round.
He gave me his list and I just about fell over. The #1 thing on his list is a Patek Philippe watch he likes. Hold up. Does he not realize that’s a $25,000 watch?! If I had that kind of cash I’d have both of our dream bikes sitting in the garage right now!
I laughed and asked if maybe he thought we should set a price limit on our gifts. His reply was “Just don’t buy me anything. If you buy me something then I have to get you something.”
OMG that totally made me mad. Does this man, after 5 1/2 years of marriage, still not realize that he’s practically obligated to by his wife a Valentine’s Day present if he doesn’t want to face her wrath for at least a couple of weeks? Men! Sometimes they can be so stubborn.
