An Open Letter To Performance Powersports

posted in Buyer Beware |

Man I’m so pissed right now at the local dealership, Performance Powersports. Hell they always give me something to be pissed about. Whether they’re strapping down a new bike wrong causing it to fly off the trailer and skid down the road (see the damage video here) or whether they’re leaving all but 2 of the bolts out of the front plastics, something is always wrong. The links above will show you photos and videos from the damage as well as what they put us through.

Then of course there was that time they told me they’d ordered our parts for warranty work, but it took calls to corporate and 2 weeks just to get them to order the damn parts. Yeah that was the same time they “lost” the parts and told us they’d never received them. Another call to corporate determined the parts had been sitting in their parts department at the store for at least a week while the dealership was telling us they were due to ship from a California warehouse!

Then there’s the fact that just about every employee up there now is some new dip shit. When I originally started shopping there I knew almost everyone who worked there. If I didn’t know them, I got to know them. My best friend, Allison, and another great friend of mine, Anna, worked the parts department. We weren’t friends at the time, but that’s I guess you could say how I met them. Anna was the parts manager, and she did a damn good job. Everything was always in stock, nothing ever got lost, and things were taken care of.

3 years later it’s a different story. Nothing is ever in stock. Have they been using Honda oil in your R6 for as long as you can remember? Not anymore! Not unless you want to wait 2 weeks for them to order it for you!

Need an air filter for an R6? Sorry they don’t keep those in stock either! The fucking Yamaha dealership doesn’t keep OEM air filters for a 2006 R6 in stock? Yep that’s right! Bullshit!

Need OEM brakes for a 2006 R6 or YZF600r? Yeah they’ve got them in stock…one set of pads that is. That’s all they keep in stock at a time. WTF? How the hell are you going to tell me you keep 1 set in stock, but you’ve got to order the set for the other side! Bullshit! Who the hell only changes 1 side at a time?

Yes Performance, I guess you could call this my open letter to you. I’m telling you how fucked up your business is now, and that I will never shop there again. Hell I stopped getting my tires changed there a long time ago. Why? Because your certified tech put my fucking tire on backwards! Don’t give me some bullshit reason about how he was training a new guy. He did the same thing to Allison’s back tire months before he did it to mine. Do you know what kind of lawsuit you could have been facing if neither of us had checked the bikes before leaving?

My uncle brings his bike in because he thinks the alternator is going. You let it sit there for over a month, send it back home because it cranked for you, it still won’t crank, and now it’s been sitting in your shop for yet another month because you say “I don’t know what’s wrong. It cranks for us.” Fuck heads, ride it for about 30 minutes, park it for 20, then try to crank it. It sure as hell won’t then! Do your fucking jobs!

Let’s not even get into the fact that he paid for a tire, you didn’t put it on, and when saw the tire wasn’t on he had to raise hell to get you to put it on. When you finally rolled the bike out with the new tire, it was the wrong fucking tire! He paid for a back tire you morons. Why the fuck did you take his brand new tire off the front and replace it? Why the fuck would he want to replace a tire that only had about 600 miles on it in the first place?

I still have yet to get the bolts I need for the front plastics from you. Quit giving me this bullshit about how you have to order them because you don’t keep extra bolts lieing around. What’s that big bucket over there in the corner full of them? Don’t worry about it anyway. I called the Anderson dealership, and not only did they have plenty of them to give me for free, but they even mailed them to me so I wouldn’t have to drive so far.

Performance, I was already disgusted as the means you used to weasel the Kawasaki dealership out of business, and now I’m thoroughly disgusted at the fact that your business is absolute shit. Now that you’re the Kawasaki dealership, too, I have to wonder if you gave up on Yamaha all together. You’re still a Yamaha dealership yet you never have any Yamaha parts in stock.

Yeah I called corporate again to ask them if you even order Yamaha parts anymore! You know what they told me? Since the last time I called in July 2007, you’ve received another 27 complaints. When I called in July I was told you had received over 30 complaints in the last 3 years. It’s not looking good for you is it? I’ll be damned if I ever let you touch another bike of mine ever again. Oh, and that 250 I was going to buy? I’ll definitely be taking my business elsewhere.
