The Moto Guitar

There are two things that seem to go together. Motorcycles and Guitars. There’s a guitar that I would love to own because it combines the best of both worlds. It’s called The Moto Guitar, and the design is unusual but brilliant!

Although you might take one look at it and think The Moto Guitar isn’t a real guitar, it is. It’s a 6 string electric guitar featuring a maple neck with rosewood fingerboard that is bolted onto a machined aluminum motorcycle engine. The wheel is 12″ of rubber with chrome spokes, and the guitar comes complete with a vibrato arm made to look like a kick starter. You can even get accessories like a padded leather seat with fringe that is an armrest or a gas cap that is a pick dispenser. The guitar even comes complete with real engine sounds.

How much does it cost? Well you’ll have to contact the artist, Peter McGilton, for information on that one. Currently this is a one of a kind, and if you’re interested in buying it you can have a personal viewing setup for you.

MotorcycleYellowPages.com

If you like to travel on your motorcycle, you know it’s not always easy to find a motorcycle repair shop or motorcycle specific store if you’re in an area you don’t know.  Yellowpages.com has finally decided to do something about that.  The YellowPages Corporation operates many popular sites and directories including yellowpages.travel and searchboth.com, but today they announced the release of TheMotorcycleYellowPages.com.

TheMotorcycleYellowPages.com will list stores, manufacturers, and related businesses pertaining to the motorcycle related industry to help provide a more local category specific search for local listings across the nation.  If you operate a motorcycle specific business you can easily add your listing to the website by visiting TheMotorcycleYellowPages.com or by calling 1-866-YELLOW-1.

Cool Site Of The Day #2

Have you ever needed to design a print publication with more of a newsletter or newspaper layout style? Did you discover that word processing programs like Word, Open Office, or Wordperfect don’t really give you all the tools you need to do something like this while making it look good?

Check out Scribus. It’s a free desktop publishing and page layout program that will give you the results you’re looking for with toolsjust like most of the expensive programs that could cost you up to $1,000.

Because page design isn’t something that’s always easy to just jump into and do, Scribus also has a huge community full of support to help you learn the basics and more. The program is easy to use once you get the hang of it. I use it to create our quarterly newsletters for our local bike group.

Scribus works on Windows and Macs, but it’s also great for those of us who prefer Linux and Unix!

Cool Site Of The Day #1

I’ve decided to start a “Cool Site of the Day” segment.  It might not always get posted everyday, but I’ll try to post a new cool site as much as possible.  Think of this as the first edition.

We all know what HD TV is by now, but have you heard about HD Radio?  You may have heard an advertisement for it, and you might have heard that some new cars are going to have it built in, but do you know what it is?  HD Radio doesn’t stand for high definition radio.  Actually HD Radio is the brand name, but the service is still digital, and the sound quality is superior to normal analog radio.

Today’s Cool Site is a “helper” for those of us interested in purchasing HD Radio.  iBiquity lists digital radio stations from all over the country so you can see what’s offered in your area before you make that big purchase towards your HD Radio system.
