I’m watching the weather almost religiously right now. We’re planning another Gap trip for April 4th, and hubby’s already asked for the day off. The bad news? Right now weather.com is forecasting 60% chance of rain. I’m hoping the trip is far enough away that the weather will change by then.
I’ve learned from experience not to even consider driving to The Gap if they’re calling for any rain. The last time we went up for a full weekend they were calling for 30% rain on Saturday and 20% Sunday. We figured it was a low enough % that we’d have a nice weekend.
What we had was anything but. We spent all day Saturday kicked back at The Kickstand Lodge because it absolutely poured all day. We did take the Blazer up and down the dragon a couple times, but riding was out of the question. Sunday we waited until around lunch time for the roads to dry up, but at least we got to ride for a few hours before having to head home.
I won’t do that again. Saturday was a full day wasted. It was nice and pretty back home, and we could have been riding on 28 instead.

What will I be doing for St Patrick’s Day? If you think I’ll be doing something boring like scoping out bathroom vanities or fixing my kitchen light that finally went out last week you’re wrong. Think I’ll be drinking the night away? Wrong again.
We’re going to Deal’s Gap! We’re getting together a list of anyone who wants to make a week day trip up there on March 17th (weather permitting), so if you want to go you can get in touch with us in a few different ways.
Feel free to leave a comment here letting me know to add you to the list. All comments are moderated, so if you don’t want it published just mention that. I’ll add you to the list and delete the comment. You can also hit me, Allison, or Ben up on Myspace or if you’ve got a contact number feel free to call one of us. Once I’ve got a list I’ll send out a reminder March 10th. If you’re still able to go you’ll get information on where we’re going to meet up, what time we’re leaving, etc. If you find out you can’t go, that will be the time to tell me.
Also, if you don’t want to ride up, but you don’t have the means to trailer let me know. We might be able to work something out. I’ll also be making a list of who’s trailering up. I’ll be keeping an eye on the weather reports, and I’ll pass along any changes in plans as need be.

Now that I know I’m getting the Kawasaki Ninja 250r as soon as I have my taxes taken care of, it’s time to start looking for some more camping gear. We have one huge tent, but we can’t take it with us when we travel on the bikes because there’s no where to put it. When we go to Deal’s Gap we have one small tent that we take with us if we’re going to stay at the Deal’s Gap Motorcycle Resort or the Kickstand Lodge, but riding two-up with camping gear strapped to a sports bike isn’t easy.
Now that we’ll have two bikes I’m definitely going to have room to carry more gear. I was checking out a couple fender bags I want that are small but good for carrying some essentials. I also found another tank bag that I really like, but being a girl I’ve got to find something that isn’t going to interfere with the boobage. Ya know what I mean?

Our group ride today got canceled, so I’m stuck inside bored. We all wanted to ride, but the wind is just too much right now. Hubby rode a mile from our house to the store and said he felt like he was going to get blown off the road at any minute. Since I don’t have a lot to do today I’m looking up various charity rides we may want to participate in this year.
I’d love to find a local poker run that benefits cerebral palsy, but the closet one I’ve found to us is in Fayetteville, NC. That’s over 8 hours away. When I do a search for “motorcycle cerebral palsy ride” I keep hitting results for cerebral palsy symptoms, so I might have to change my search up some to find what I’m looking for.

Hubby’s gone to get new tires put on the bike. Yay! That means when he gets home we’ll finally be ready to ride again. We’re going to head up the mountain tomorrow with a friend of ours who actually made it to the bike show in Atlanta, and he promised to bring by some of the photos he took.
He got a lot of photos of the various trade show booths with some killer bikes from some really awesome artists. Hopefully I can get those scanned and uploaded here really soon. My scanner died a couple months ago, so I’ll try to run them to my mother in laws to scan tomorrow night if I remember.
