Motorcycle Angel

I know it’s not easy to see, but check out the coolest present my sis in law has ever given me.

Yep, it’s an angel riding a motorcycle, and yep it’s a shirt pin! I’m so totally psyched about it. I saw a mirror ornament that was very similar to this awhile back, and I mentioned to my sister in law that I wish I could find a mini version that I could carry on the bike with me. She found these pins shortly after that and ordered two for me and my mother in law.

Not only is it absolutely adorable, but since it’s a shirt pin I can pin it on me when I ride. I don’t want to pin it on either of my jackets because I don’t want to mess up the leather, but I’ll definitely be wearing it on my shirt every time I leave the house on the bike from now on.

Wear Your Damn Helmet!

It doesn’t matter what time of the year it is. There’s always someone flying by our house on a motorcycle. That’s because we live right at the base of the mountains, and our road is considered a short cut to two of the curviest mountain roads in South Carolina.

You know I seriously don’t mind seeing bikes coming through here all the time. I like to sit out on my porch swing in the summer watching the various bikes come by, but today just really pissed me off.

I was outside taking the dog out, and I heard 2 bikes coming from a good bit away. I could tell they were flying pretty fast, and as I listened to them approach I moved into the front yard to see them. They came flying through here, neither of them wearing a helmet.

1. If you’re going to ride, especially fast, wear your damn helmet!

2. When riding through a residential community don’t freakin’ fly!

I had just watched a car back out into the road next door, and they barely made it out of the way before the bikes came flying through. Where we live you can’t see very far when you back out, and if those guys had came flying through here any sooner they would have creamed the woman backing out. They wouldn’t have had time to stop, and who would have been the ones getting hurt? The guys without the helmets of course!

Look at it this way. If you’re in a really bad wreck without a helmet you’re going to come out of it 2 ways. Dead, or if you’re lucky enough to make it out alive you’ll probably spend the rest of your life drooling while sitting around in adult pads.

No More Cold Belly!

You know what’s great about riding with other females who have been riding bikes for years? They always have an answer to my problems. One thing I won’t do is ride without my riding gear. I do have a textile 3 in 1 jacket that I can wear year round, or I can remove the rain and thermal liners for a nice breathable summer jacket. Unfortunately it doesn’t always provide the protection I need.

When I know I’m going to need extra protection I wear my leathers. I’ve got a 1 piece racing suit as well as the Icon Kitty Jacket and chaps that I wear when I’m not needing complete protection from the suit. I always have a problem with the leathers though. Being a large chested girl I have to buy my jackets a little large so I can stuff my boobs into them. That leaves extra room at the bottom leaving my stomach vulnerable to cold air in the winter.

One of my female riding friends has the same problem, and she gave me a great solution. She wears corsets under her riding jacket! Not only do they look super cool, but she can tie the corset as tightly around her stomach as she needs to prevent cold air from hitting her. I think I’ll have to pick up a corset so I can try this!
