Normally when we talk about going to the mountains to ride the bikes I always suggest we stay the whole weekend, or at least one night. If we’re going to ride up instead of trailering it totally wears me out. After riding all day all I want to do is lay down in a nice comfortable bed and sleep.

Normally when I suggest this hubby’s response is, not this time. He’s always got some excuse that he’s got something to do the next day. Well, he surprised me tonight. He actually came to me and said “Why don’t we make a weekend trip to the mountains out of our Deal’s Gap trip?”

I’m sure my face lit up like a light bulb. So, our new plan is we’re going up to The Gap on Friday will all our friends. Then we’re just going to ride on up to one of the Pigeon Forge cabins our friend’s parents own. They’re going to let us stay for free, so we should definitely take advantage of it!

We thought about just riding the bike to Pigeon Forge, but I think we’re going to drive the Blazer, and we’ll let Allison trailer the bike back down the mountain with hers. She won’t need to unload hers until we’re back on Sunday anyway. We’re doing that because I want to do some outlet shopping while we’re there, and I don’t exactly have room to put my buys on the bike. It’s hard enough just packing a backpack for a couple days when we take the bike on a trip.

I woke up this morning complaining that my sinuses were going haywire.  I’m not complaining anymore.  After an allergy pill and a short ride this morning I’m perfectly happy enjoying this wonderful day.  It’s 78 degrees outside, and I’m lovin’ it.  (Hums the Mickey D’s theme)

I do have work to get done today, so I had hubby drop me off at the house.  Now he’s going off to meet one of his friends to ride hwy 178.  I like riding 178  when there aren’t a lot of bikes out, but I know it’s going to be packed today.  That many bikes can spell trouble in such a small little area.

We call it the mini Deal’s Gap because it’s the perfect place to ride if you want to warm up for the tight twisties, but unlike Deal’s Gap you’ve got a ton of squids up there showing out.  I can’t stand that.  If you’re going to ride in the mountains keep it within your limits.  Don’t try to drag a knee just because other guys (or girls) are doing it.

Well now I’m off to make me some lunch and get some work done.

Man it felt so good to take a little ride today. It was a little chilly on the way home, but I’ve been bummed out because of all the bad weather we’ve had, so I’ll ride when I can. Hubby and I both wanted to ride, so we rode up the mountain to my cousin’s house.

While they stood outside goofing off I rode around the circle he lives on, but I couldn’t do too much. Right now I can ride as a passenger no problem, but holding up that much weight on my own is killing my back. I’m going to have to get my back straightened out again before I’m riding by myself a lot this summer.

I’m thinking about checking out the massage therapy schools in our area because I know from time to time they’ll offer free massages to give their students some extra hands on training. A massage would really help my back tonight.

Other than my back hurting I really enjoyed riding tonight, but it just wasn’t long enough. We only had about 30 minutes to ride before dark, so hopefully I can get to bed early enough to night to have an early start tomorrow.

God you don’t know how bad I’m itching to ride right now.  This seriously sucks.  Thanks to the weather and work I haven’t spent more than an hour total on the bike in the last 2 weeks.  Missing the trip to the Gap was bad, but I’m seriously going to explode if I don’t get a chance to ride soon.

Tomorrow is going to be the best day I would have to ride this week, but go figure we’ve got nasty weather headed this way.  I’ve been itching to ride so bad that I pulled out Tourist Trophy to race for a couple hours today.

I think it drives me even more crazy knowing last year we rode year round.  All winter we had problems with our cars breaking down constantly, so the bike was our main transportation.  You go from riding everyday out of necessity to not even getting an hour to ride for fun, it’ll drive you crazy!
