Oh yeah, and I forgot to mention he brought up Vegas vacations again. Does he really think if I’m already going crazy over the amount of money we’ve spent that I’m going to be able to come up with the cash to go to Vegas at the end of the summer? I feel bad because my father-in-law has really wanted to make this trip, but we really can’t afford a cross country road trip right now.
Sometimes I hate being the woman, and I hate even more being the one who handles the money. Of course I can’t let him handle it because bills would never get paid. He’d blow every penny either of us made on more stuff for the bike…or new bikes.
I feel throwing a big slap in the face and saying “Where’s my 250? Ya know, the one I was going to get this year? The one I put a deposit on….yeah the deposit I lost because YOU spent my savings to fix your bike?”
Yeah….I think I need to stop ranting and take a cold shower or something….too bad I can’t take the bike out for a nice ride to calm me down.

I had a good bitch fest with Hubby this afternoon. He was asking me if he could take his entire paycheck next week to purchase more bike parts. Um…hell no!
Ok the deal is I’m not exactly thrilled about having to spend so much cash right now to put the bike back together. I’m definitely not thrilled that he’s worked out a payment plan with the friend who wrecked it.
I don’t think Hubby really realizes how much cash I’ve dumped into the bike over the last couple months. I keep giving him the number, and he says no it’s not that much. Well today I sat down with him, pulled out all my receipts and added them up 1 at a time in front of him. Including the tools he’s purchased that he didn’t already have the total came up to a little over $1600. Of course since the bike is already broken down he decided to put in a jet kit. That I don’t mind, but now he wants a custom pipe as well. I’m all for the pipe, and I’ve wanted a Two Brother’s M5 for awhile, but that doesn’t mean we can afford it right now. I told him to wait until we get paid back for all this, but of course he pitched a hissy fit.
He has no problem throwing out the cash to do all this, but then when we need to do something that’s going to cost a lot he complains. I’ve soldered his glasses back together 4 times now because he says we can’t afford for him to buy a new pair…a pair of glasses that cost $200…I think if we can spend $1600 on the bike we can spend $200 on glasses. When I mentioned Lasik to him, no way. He’s not spending that much cash for a surgery. Well that $1600 would have just about covered the whole surgery.
I guess we just look at things differently. He’d rather pour his cash into fun things while I’d rather spend it on things we really need…like our health and paying off our debts. I hope he realizes this is the last time he’ll be doing this. That new bike he wanted to get next year? Not going to happen. As payments come in from the friend, I’m using that money to pay this bike off. If this one was paid for we wouldn’t even be sinking money into fixing it in the first place.

Happy Father’s day to all you father’s out there! I’ve had a very weird weekend, and in the midst of all of it I completely forgot it was Father’s Day! Thankfully my dad is on vacation, so we’ve already planned our Father’s Day festivities with him later this week.
I was supposed to pick up my Father-in-law’s present yesterday though, and I completely forgot about it. I slept through half of the day yesterday, so Hubby made other plans while I was asleep. I think I’m going to change those plans though. I was just looking through a furniture catalog I receive monthly, and I spotted a really cute table lamp I think I want to order for my father-in-law.
I know most men don’t care much about furniture, but my father-in-law loves to buy unique furniture for his shop at home. He’s got an awesome desk in the corner of his workshop, and the lamp I found is a motorcycle lamp. It would look great sitting on his work shop desk. I’ll have to ask Hubby for his opinion, but if he agrees I think I’ll just have to tell my father-in-law today that his present is on it’s way.
I couldn’t find the exact lamp online, but here’s one that’s similar to it. This one looks pretty cheaply made though.

Just a heads up for those of you trying to leave comments. My comments are still messed up. There’s something screwy in my database, and I haven’t been able to fix it. For some reason the only comments getting through are the ones that say stuff like “Find the best wrinkle cream here”.
Comments are there, I just have to go into my database and manually approve each one through phpMyAdmin. The spam comments aren’t being caught by Akismet either. They’re call coming through as regular comments and actually showing up for me to moderate. Since these are the only ones getting through, for now I’m going to disable ALL links in comments. I’ll continue to manually approve comments until I get the problem fixed, so I’m not closing all comments just yet.

We got a lot done on the bike today. We spent a few hours last night and a couple hours today removing things to see exactly what is damaged. We already had a partial list of stuff we figured was damaged, but we took some time today to inspect everything for a full list. Surprisingly a lot of the stuff we figured was damaged isn’t, and we only had to add 1 thing to our list.
We still have to see if the lower triple tree is going to be ok. We’ve got someone who’s going to put it on a machine and test it for us to make sure it didn’t get warped. Upper triple tree is fine though. The front forks are totally busted, and that’s going to be the most expensive thing to replace. I’ve got a list of motorcycle junkyards, and I’m going to start making some calls on Tuesday.
Right now it’s looking like there’s going to be roughly $2000 in repairs, and that’s Ebay prices/used parts prices.
A friend of ours tried to lighten the mood a little today. Since we’re doing the r6 rear end conversion I guess he thought gift baskets might help. He showed up with a neatly wrapped basket with his old tail light and passenger pegs off his 01 r6. That’s exactly what we need since we’re doing the 01-02 conversion! Alli already has the tail section we need, and I’m keeping an eye on a few Ebay auctions for the subframe we need.
I’m hoping I can start ordering parts by the end of the week, and hopefully parts will start coming in soon enough for us to work on some of the fabrication we’re going to have to do to the subframe. I’m just so ready to jump into the project. Yep, it’s definitely a project now, and the 600r has turned into a full on project bike.
I took some more pics of the bike torn down, but my card reader has gone missing. I’ll share those as soon as I find it.
