We’re Back

Well, no bike updates today. We just got back from the beach yesterday, and we were planning on riding up to the shop to see how thing were going. Those plans changed though when we came home to find the cat had been accidentally let out of the house, and he’d been attacked by a dog. We ended up rushing him to the vet instead.

Hubby was going to stop by on his lunch break today to see how the bike was coming along, but his boss is finally stepping up and doing some employment screening of the guys working on his crew. Lunch got cut short, and they all had to take a test that will show if they really have the experience they say they have. I’m so glad he’s doing this because so many of the guys working on Hubby’s crew don’t know how to do simple carpentry yet they’re banking big paychecks because they claim they have a higher experience level.

Hopefully Hubby can find time to stop by the shop this afternoon, but I doubt it.  He’s got to leave early to pick the cat up from the vet now that he’s out of surgery and had a day to recover.

Almost Party Time

I just got off the phone with the welder, and the bike is almost ready to come home. He just had a couple questions, so Hubby’s going to swing by the shop on his way home from work. If things go as planned we’ll be picking it up Tuesday after we get home from the beach. We could have it all back together by next weekend!

It’s definitely about time to have a party. We might have missed almost all season, but at least we’ll have our bike back! Oh, and at least we didn’t miss the end of season bash up at the Gap. That’ll be October 25th. I knew if the bike wasn’t back together I was going anyway. I’d ride bitch with Alli if I had to. Speaking of Alli, I have to get out of here. I’ve still got to finish packing, and I promised her I’d drop off some cookie recipes she’s been wanting sometime today. It would be awesome if I could find a little cookie cutter in the shape of a sport bike.

Do They Ever Listen?

Men that is. Apparently my Hubby sure doesn’t! Like I said before Hubby has been using the guest room for his “bike shop”. I’m perfectly fine with that. In fact, I suggested it. I had previously been using it as storage since most of our guests prefer to sleep on the couch or the pull out bed instead of the old falling apart day bed I have in the guest room. My only rule was that Hubby was to leave my stuff alone. Just push all the boxes of storage stuff over to the corner, and leave them be.

I gave him a few bags and old moving boxes to use for bike parts. The last time I went in that room was when we moved the bike out to take it to the welder. At that time Hubby had his parts all stacked and labeled in boxes on the other side of the room.

I had to go in there again today to look for one of my suitcases that wasn’t under my bed like I thought it was. I fully planned on having to search through my own boxes of crap to find it, but I wasn’t very happy when I saw it sitting in the corner with the bike parts. He’s using my practically brand new suitcase to store greasy parts! Why? I mean seriously does he think I’d ever think that is okay? That’s what the old boxes are for! Get them greasy, then throw them out!

Ugh! Men!

Stressin’

Man I am totally stressing, and for once it’s not because I’m worried about the bike. I know exactly what’s going on with the bike. It’s safely tucked away in the welding shop where it will soon come to life again. As for me, I’m freaking out so much I feel like I might need to invest in some extra term life insurance just in case I keel over from all this stress and anxiety.

Never in my life did I think it would take so much energy and effort for 2 people to take a measly 4 day vacation. I guess it doesn’t help that Hubby has absolutely no desire to help me back. I pulled out a few of his favorite t-shirts, most of which are motorcycle related, then I dared him to touch them this week. I went to pack them this morning only to find half of them in the dirty clothes pile. Ugh.

Another Parts Update

I’ve been holding out on buying a new front stay because I was really hoping the old one could be straightened. I wasn’t crossing my fingers or anything because it looked pretty rough. I have seen others that look just as bad be straightened before though, and we got lucky. Hubby informed me today that the stay was fixed which saves me about $120.

I was going to order a new set of flush mounts today, but then I remembered I have to buy a baby gift even though I’ll be missing my friend’s baby shower this weekend. I decided to get her some baby bedding. A friend and I split the cost, but it was still pretty expensive. I’ll have to wait until next week to order the flush mounts.

We’ll be out of town this week, but as soon as we get back we’re kicking things in high gear. We’re so closed to being done!
