Motorcyclists Acting Crazy On Hwy 28?

posted in Motorcycle Stuff |

I just wanted to drop a note to the normal group.  Any of you who have been going a little too fast up Highway 28 should be on guard over the next few weeks.  I’ve been given reports from 4 different people now about people who live up the mountain complaining about the sport bikes to the cops.

The cops have been told that the bikers have no respect, are flying around people in blind curves, acting crazy, and one report stated that a sports bike tried to run the car off the road.  we know this isn’t how it really happens on the mountain, but we also know there are people out there who have no respect for motorcycles at all.  These people are the ones who make such reports to the cops.

The other type of people we have are some of those guys out their on motorcycles who have no respect for themselves or other riders.  Even though there are only a handful of them riding around our neck of the wood, they are the ones who make all of us look bad.

I talked to a police office friend, and he did inform me that they have indeed had complaints about motorcycles on the mountain.  Of course he wasn’t willing to tell me which stretch we’re talking about here, but he did mention that we should all have no worries if we’re riding safely and within our limits.  He rides as well, so of course he understands what we’re dealing with.

Police officers will be adding a few extra patrols up the mountain.  I can’t honestly tell you the last time I saw a cop on HWY 28, but it’s always a possibility.  Please stay safe by riding in your limits and always remember the others you’re sharing with road with.

We all know we face problems everyday with drivers who don’t respect us.  Many of them are in our lanes coming around the curves, and they pay no mind to it.  The sad truth is that it’s a known fact in our area that a lot of people don’t believe we should be on the roads.

When you’re riding always remember to be courteous, and please throw up a hand or make some effort to thank anyone who pulls over to let you by.  Those that do so are few and far between
