Looking At The R6

posted in Off Topic |

Last night Hubby and I headed over to a friend’s house who lives about 45 minutes away. Our friend had told us that the little mom and pop gas station down the road from his house has started selling used bikes. Apparently the son used to own a little used bike shop, but he had to close it down because of the economy. Instead of completely leaving his business behind he just took up shop in his parent’s gas station! I find it kind of funny but at the same time cool.

We stopped in to see what he had. Right now he only has 3 bikes sitting in there. He’s got a late 80’s Harley, a 2006 Triumph, and an ‘02 R6. The R6 was in pretty nice shape, and whoever rode it last hasn’t ridden it hard at all. The rear tire was totally flat spotted with some horrible chicken lines. Hubby’s interested in it, so we may go back up there today to give it a good looking over. We didn’t spend much time looking at it yesterday. Dude’s asking $4900 for it, which isn’t bad. That’s right at KBB price, but I wouldn’t pay that much considering it’s a high mileage bike and the tires are shot. He’ll definitely have to come off the price if we buy it.

The funniest part of the trip is was when we were walking towards the bikes. We had to walk through the little personal hygiene section, and for the first time ever Hubby saw the OTC paternity test kits. He freaked out right there in the store. I explained that you still have to send it off to get the results, and it won’t hold up in court unless you pay like $200 extra, but he found it funny. There aren’t many stores around here that carry them, and he was shocked to see one. He’s now referring to them as “Baby Daddy In A Box”.
