I got in an argument with my Mom today over what kind of toys my little girl is going to play with. We were walking down the toy isle in K-Mart this morning, and I spotted a little plush motorcycle. She had already said she was going to buy a few plushie toys to add to the decor of the room, but I don’t think she was expecting me to want to throw a bike into the mix. She was thinking more along the lines of baby dolls and maybe a few jungle animals to match the theme of the room. Nope, I wanted my little girl to get her first bike. My Mom didn’t agree at all, so we left the stuffed bike sitting there. She felt it was too “boyish”.
Seriously when are people going to get over this stereotype that bikes are for boys? What’s the difference between my little girl having a plushie motorcycle and the GI Joes that my mom bought me when I was a kid? My Barbie dolls married my GI Joe dolls, and I’m pretty sure her baby dolls could ride her motorcycle!

I just wanted to stop by for a minute to say I’m totally having Deal’s Gap withdrawals today. We haven’t made a single trip up there this year, and it sucks. There really isn’t much for me to do right now anyway other than sitting on the side of the road snapping pictures and watching everyone else have fun, so it would be a waste of a trip anyway.
That did get me thinking about next riding season and what we’re going to do with the baby. Will we ever take her to Deal’s Gap with us or will she stay home with one of the Grandparents for the day? Hubby really wants to take her up there at least once next season, and we may just have to plan a short trip to do so. I did find the cutest little onsie that’s printed to look like a little biker jacket, so I’ll definitely have to get her one of those if we do decide to take her up there.

It’s been pretty quiet around here lately because no one has really had a chance to ride. The weather has cooperated off and on, but the leaking has persisted. Luckily we finally figured out where the oil leak was coming from, and it’s going to be a gasket fix in a pretty easy to get to place.
Now our only issue is figuring out how we’re going to pay for it as well as the new tires we need. The tires are so shot there’s no chance in Hubby riding anytime soon, but there’s no cash to buy new ones. Thanks to the economy Hubby hasn’t had much work here lately, and that means we’re scrambling to stay afloat. Bike parts will have to take a back seat to the necessities for awhile.

We were supposed to hook up with our friends K & C to play a little bit o’ Wii tonight, but that didn’t happen. The day was just too pretty to ignore, so when Hubby got home from work we hooked up with Allison for a nice ride instead.
I seriously need to clean my textile jacket because I thought I was going to sweat to death in my leather today. Who needs Lipovox when you can just sweat off the fat? Seriously though it’s the fact that I’m not used to it being nice and warm again, so I’ll definitely have to get used to the feeling of getting hot and sweaty in the leather again.
I wasn’t complaining on the ride home though. As soon as the sun started to set a chilly wind picked up in the mountains, and boy was I glad I had the leather on then. I shouldn’t be whining about being hot or cold. I remember very plainly the winter when the car broke down and we had to ride the bike everywhere. It’s just not possible for me to bundle up enough to not freeze on a cold winter morning ride.
It’s just so nice to get out and ride again. We’d only planned to make a quick run up the mountain, but we quickly realized we’d been riding for 2 hours. That happens so easily when you’re enjoying every minute of what you’re doing.
Now I’m just crossing my fingers and hoping tomorrow is just as pretty. It’s supposed to be, but the weather man has been so wrong so many times this year.

Man I’m going to be so sad when this nice weather ends. Of course it’s supposed to end right about the time the weekend gets here. For now I’ll enjoy every minute of it though. This morning the weather report said it’d be 79 today. It’s already 83 here at 2:22pm. I can’t wait to go riding this evening.
We were going to do a little riding yesterday, but the bike was only firing on 3 cylinders when Hubby cranked it up. Yep it’s the plugs, but we couldn’t get any on a Sunday. Our bike mechanic friend picked some up today to get us going again, so we spent yesterday having a bike movie marathon.
Hubby had never watched On Any Sunday, so I cued it up on Netflix along with Troy’s Story: Legend of Superbike Champion Troy Bayliss, On Any Sunday Revisited, and The Motorcycle Diaries. It was a nice way to waste a day, and if you’ve never seen On Any Sunday you seriously should. It is definitely the best motorcycle documentary out there, and it’s interesting to see how AMA ran in the 70s.
Our movies ended right about the time a few friends came over. I really wish we could have gone to The Gap this weekend because it turns out a ton of our friends went. These guys stopped by our house on the way back, and “E” was asking me to help him check out a few wireless security systems for his bike. They stopped for dinner on the way home, and when he walked out he found a teenage kid sitting on his bike. Now he wants to install an alarm system that will go off as soon as someone touches it, so I promised I’d checkout a few for him this week.
I don’t blame him one bit. One thing that really pisses me off is seeing someone who has no business touching it sitting on someone else’s bike. The kids around here like to try to hop on bikes and take pics while the owner isn’t around, and it’s happened to us before. We’ve seen quite a few bikes get knocked over because someone who doesn’t know what they’re doing tries to play on it while the owner isn’t around, so I’m all for alarm systems. If we weren’t totally rocking a rat bike now I’d probably consider one, and I just may after we’ve got the new paint job.
